Anti-Palin Rally in Alaska

I was reading the blog, Daily Kos: State of the Nation, and the first thing that I noticed that I liked was the reference to the "faith-based calculator" that must have been used to determine that Sarah Palin has an 80% popularity rating in Alaska, her home state. Apparently, that's not based on reality.

If you visit the Daily Kos you will see that there was quite a protest the other day in Anchorage. What started out as a planned small rally by a few women turned into a major rally to let the world know that these women (mostly) did not agree with governor Palin on many issues important to women. I especially liked the picture that I have included here.

We have a fourteen year old daughter, as many of you know, and you have to wonder what we are teaching them about women when they see Sarah Palin saying things like "Drill baby drill", and knowing that she cut funds from programs in Alaska that benefited teen mothers. Teens in this country are really intelligent and have seen that Bush is no good for the country. Too bad they can't vote yet. If they could, the McCain/Palin team would not be an issue.

I want to know how you feel about Palin as a role model for young women. Do you think girls look up to her as a role model? Do you think she is a good role model for girls/young women. Would Hillary Clinton be a better role model? If so, why? If not, why not? Let me know in the comments.

I recently posted on my blog how I feel Palin is the scariest woman on the planet (to me) right now.

I realize I have no clue what life in Alaska is about - but I shudder at the thought of Palin's disregard for wildlife and the environment, and so many other things about her.

If McCain\Palin do make it to the White House I will be devasted.

As a role model - my daughter knows how I feel about this woman.

Hilary Clinton is definitely a better role model - she is articulate, works hard for the good of the country and the people (i.e. health care issues), has a lot of experience.

I truly will never ever ever understand why those who support Palin think it's "cute and witty" when Palin is on stage with that sugary fake smile delivering jabs and insults about Obama, yet when Hilary states a fact about any one who is a Republican she is called a "harpy."

Posts like yours do my heart good and keep the tiny flame of hope alive.

Quick Eco-Rundown on Palin
Posted by CyberCelt at 12:13 PM

GOP presidential candidate John McCain announced that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be his running mate in the race against Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Here are some quick snapshots of Palin's record on issues related to energy and the environment:

* Opposed a statewide ballot initiative to prohibit or restrict new mining operations that could affect salmon in the state's streams and rivers

* Has pushed to build a natural-gas pipeline from Alaska's North Slope

* Sued the Interior Department over its decision to list the polar bear as a threatened species

* Has pushed to open Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling

* Opposes a windfall profits tax on oil companies

* Was the ethics commissioner of the Alaska Gas and Oil Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2004

If she cares so little about her state and the animals within, what do you think she will do to your state. Think about it.

I find her borderline psycho.

She's a public speaker and a great performer...she's basically all show and no substance and that's part of the reason why she doesn't go on press conferences and doesn't answer questions. The one time she did was soo bad for her..I think I could have done better if Charlie Gipson interviewed me on my vice presidency capabilities. I can't wait to see her in a debate!

I blogged yesterday about my impression of an interview she gave.

Oh my dear!

No she isn't a good role model at all.

Leaves her little baby with special needs...where?
Ofcourse women can combine motherhood with work, but she took it upon het to combine the two poles: child in need and vice-presidency. Both will suffer.

OK, we're not supposed to talk about personal matters, but that's what a role model is all about.

I've taught my children not to talk
about issues they don't know nothing about. I hate it when they throw about words and have no insight in the matter.

Palin does!

The way she was talking about having experience with foreign policies because Alaska is bordered by foreign countries.
Bla bla bla.
My children of 12 have a better opinion about how they would act as a president dealing with other countries. Humanitarian matters, economics and environmental matters.

I don't know Hillary Clinton well.
I feel she's hiding her treu "me" behind a facade of kindness. Maybe she's a very kind and nice and vulnerable person, I just don't know.

But whne I had a child of 17 pregnant, I would scratch my head about having a political carreer and I would quite right that same moment, and try to give my child all the support she needed, if she wanted or not.

In reading the comments left here so far, it appears that the folks frequenting this site are the same ones that believe hunters DON'T care about nature, but the crazed activists who've never been outside of San Francisco DO.
