Want to Learn Piano or Guitar?

(de) Klavier, Tastatur; (en) piano, keys.Image via Wikipedia Our daughter's birthday was yesterday, and in an attempt to find something for her, I stumbled across this great site, where you can learn guitar and/or piano, by watching online video lessons. Wow, I thought, what a great idea. Jessica loves to play her keyboard, but has had no formal training in piano. The local guy charges $20 per half hour for a once a week lesson. I don't know if that is enough time to learn anything. Plus, that's pretty expensive.

But with Songpond, you can pick and choose which song lessons you'd like to take and play along with a professional instructor. The videos are very clear and straightforward, and the instructors do a great job explaining things. And the instructors teach with a keyboard rather than an actual piano.

I haven't signed her up for lessons yet, but they have a basic package for $7.95 a month, which includes unlimited techniques lessons. Then, they have 2, 4 and 6 song packages, for $13.95, $15.95 and $19.95 per month, respectively. That means that you get unlimited technique lessons for each package, plus you can learn complete songs in addition. And you can request songs too. Their selection is pretty good now for popular songs, but there are a lot more that you can request.

So, if you are a budding guitar or piano hero, be sure to check out Songpond.
